The Producers Association Seggiano PDO Oil was born in 2002 thanks to the will of a group of local entrepreneurs connected to the production of extra virgin olive oil derived from the processing of olives from the local cultivar, the Olivastra of Seggiano. Forming themselves as a consortium, they intend to enhance its quality and characteristics by promoting the adoption and compliance with a disciplinary code followed by all the operators in the area.
Many, in fact, are the peculiarities of this olive oil that must be preserved: a native cultivar, particularly resistant to harsh winters, which covers the north western slopes of Mount Amiata with secular olive groves that extend up to 600 meters above sea level; an unusual aroma and taste, that of the “mountain olive tree”; its nourishing and healing properties, characterized by a high percentage of antioxidants and vitamin E.
Since its establishment, the consortium has been actively involved in promoting the Amiata territory, making the public aware of the particularities of its land, its productions and its environmental beauties, respecting the history and values of its local community.
